2061 Gaylord St

Printer-friendly version

The Denver Assessor’s website and building permit #2101 lists the build date for the home as 1911. The owner listed at the time of construction was Augusta Thorell, also known as Mrs. Swan Oscar Thorell. However.  The one-and-a-half story brick residence built in the Craftsman Foursquare style cost $4,000 to construct.

Augusta, born c. 1867 in Sweden, was living at 1600 St. Paul Street with her Swedish husband, Swan Oscar, and three children at the time of the 1910 Federal Census. Swan worked for many years as a building contractor, and there is no indication the Thorells lived in the home. Thorell also constructed the house next door to the south, 2053 Gaylord, a home which shares the Craftsman style and foursquare form with this one.
