The duplex at 917-921 Ogden Street was built in 1906 under building permit #1053 for owner Laura A. Crow. The permit lists the architect as M. H. Cook and builder as L. J. Brown. Brown is listed as a builder on many early Denver building permits, and is likely Denver contracter Loyal J. Brown. No information could be located on M. H. Cook.
Owner Laura A. Crow was a 70-year-old widow at the time of construction. Born in Illinois c.1846, her family moved to Nederland in 1864. She married Richard Crow, who worked in mining, in 1873. The couple lived in Boulder for many years, but Laura moved to Denver after her husband’s death. Laura Crow never lived in the duplex, instead using it as an investment property.
