This brick Queen Anne house was first owned by Fairfield Palmer from 1887 to 1908. Palmer lived at the residence with his wife and two children. Palmer, who hailed from Maine, worked as a messenger for Wells Fargo & Company Express.

The house was purchased by Oscar Johnson in 1908. Johnson held various blue collar jobs, including working as a livery man at a stable and later working in a supply warehouse. Johnson lived in the home with his wife and daughter. When his daughter married, the couple moved in with her parents. Upon Oscar's death in 1946, the property ownership was transferred to his wife and daughter, who owned the house until 1956.
