This building's original address was 346 North Grant Street before streets in Globeville were changed in the early 1900s to align with those in Denver. In 1895, the property was sold by William J. Palmer to Jacob Stotz, a butcher, for $1 - suggesting that the house was not yet constructed. The house was likely constructed between 1895 and 1898. Stotz lived at this location as early as 1898 with his wife, Barbara.
In 1906, the Stotz family sold the house to Paul and Mary Hoste. Two years later, it was purchased by Carl Goeritz. Goeritz was a German saloonkeeper who owned a number of properties in Globeville.
From about 1908 to 1913, this location functioned as a daycare called Garden Place Day Nursery. After the construction of Globeville Day Nursery on Logan Street in 1913, the building reverted to being a single-family home.
In 1914, Goeritz's daughter, Elfrieda, lived here with her husband, Fred, and their three young children. Elfrieda and Fred were cousins. Fred originally worked as a foreman at one of the nearby smelters before working in real estate. In 1922, Carl sold the house to Elfrieda and Fred. After Carl's death in 1926, the family moved into his former residence at 4650 Grant Street, using 4646 Sherman Street as a rental. After Fred and Elfrieda's deaths, the house passed to Fred Jr. in 1956.

This is my house. We have done so research over the years and have been able to track down Real Estate maps from the 1880's and 1890's. The original construction of the home was completed in 1890. Thanks for sharing all of the info, some was new to us.
