The Denver Assessor’s website lists the build date for 1234 Washington Street as 1927. Although a building permit cannot be located for the building’s construction, advertisements in the Denver Post indicate the apartment building was completed by the end of 1926. One ad boasted of the building’s “latest style and features” which included a private elevator, wall phones, and radio wires. The article also notes that the building was constructed by Welton Builders. The four-story, 26-unit, blond-brick apartment building was called the Highview Apartments until at least 1979 but today is known as The Abigail.
