Arthur Pierce and South Denver Eye Newspaper

Printer-friendly version

The Town of South Denver began in 1886 as a legal maneuver to keep Denver’s “liquor element” from expanding south. It ended eight years later when the town was annexed into the city of Denver. (1). Arthur Pierce, seeing that the new town needed it's own newspaper, was the Co-Founder of the "South Denver Eye" - a weekly newspaper. The South Denver Eye set up their final shop at 130 Broadway which included its printing press. The home still stands today.
