The Washington Apartments

Our Research [1]

Constructed in 1948, by A. Gruber and Sons, at a cost of $80,000 (building permit #7220), the building is known as The Washington Apartments or sometimes simply The Washington.  After its construction, Gruber and Sons sold the building to Earl M. Howland in 1953.

A. Gruber & Sons was founded in 1935, and comprised of Albert Gruber and his sons Albert Gerald, Robert, and Donald. Denver assessor records show that Gruber & Sons was likely responsible for the construction of other mid-20th century apartment buildings in central Denver, including those at 1357 Williams Street and 669 Washington Street.
